Usually the working day is about 40 hours a week, for example, so the participant must be prepared to work 8 hours a day and sometimes overtime, with at least one day off a week.
The minimum voluntary bonus is £ 4.98/ hour (gross) for young people between 18 and 20 years and 6.08/ hour (gross) for people of 21 years old and more. You will receive this amount every week or every 15 days and always on time. Most companies offer a greater bonus instead of the stipulated minimum. Accommodation and subsistence The participants will stay in the hotel or a staff accommodation will be provided, usually it is a shared room with another staff member. The price of accommodation will be deducted from the participants’ monthly stipend: some hotels do not discount anything, others can deduct between £ 20 and £ 50 a week, depending on the type of accommodation and whether meals are included or not.
Dates
The program is available all year round, except from the second week of December to late January.
To start working from September and if you want a long stay, you should keep in mind that during the months October, November and December most hotels require industry experience and a level of English, since the Christmas season is high season and they need a qualified staff. However, these conditions are more flexible from February but remember that a demonstrable level of English is required.
Please also note that it is not usual to complete the program in the months of May, June, July and August, as this is when the hotels are busy and prefer to hire more staff until the end of the summer reason.
It’s not the typical English summer
Although English seems the main attraction for joining this program, work experience at the end will be more important than the English practiced.
Obviously your mission will not be to direct the hotel but in Spain exists a saying : “Those who were chefs before to become priests know what happens in the kitchen”, so you can be sure it will be a very interesting experience and you will learn how a hotel works and how British people work.
In addition, in spite of your filed or your profession, your curriculum will be appreciated for the ability you had to manage in a different working environment, and for your determination to learn to work.
After confirming the place of training the participant will receive a detailed plan of tasks to do during the day.
You will like it if…
If you want to work and learn at the same time, if you want to practice English in an environment where you have to speak English, if you think it’s time to slave away, if you want to know English society from a privileged point of view and if you have some British phlegm.
You will not like it if… If you’re thinking it’s a holiday, if you have little patience and you are in a bad mood when the sky is gray.

Climate The UK climate is mid-latitude ocean (Koppen climate classification Cfb). With warm summers, cold winters and abundant rainfall throughout the year. The main factor that influence the climate of the country are its northern latitude (ranging from 50º to 60º ), the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and high water temperatures because the Gulf Stream. The weather can change dramatically from one day to the other but the temperature range throughout the year is relatively low.
The point of the convergence between the warm air currents from the tropics and cold air currents from the North Pole is located on the United Kingdom. The variation of atmosphere temperature creates instability and this is the main factor determining the changeable time of the country.
The edges of convergence between warm tropical air and cold polar pass over the UK. In that area, large temperature variations create instability and this is the biggest factor that influences the notoriously changeable and often unpredictable time in the country, where many types of weather can be experienced in one day.
Regional climates in the UK are influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and latitude. Northern Ireland, Wales and western parts of England and Scotland, closer to the Atlantic regions, are generally warm, wet and windy and temperature ranges are often more extreme. The east areas are usually drier, cooler and less windy but also experience greater daily seasonal variations in temperature.
Its northern areas are generally cooler and less humid than southern ones and in addition the temperature range is lower.
Although all the UK is largely under the influence of tropical maritime air masses from the southwest, different regions are more susceptible than others when different air masses fronts affect the country: northern Ireland and Western Scotland are the most exposed to the polar maritime air masses bringing fresh and humid air; eastern Scotland and north-west of England are more exposed to polar continental air masses bringing cold and dry air; the south and southeast of England are more exposed to tropical maritime air masses which bring warm and moist air.

Tips PUROMUNDO
You will work in a hotel in a foreign country with its own concepts of education and formalism. Arm yourself with patience, flexibility and British phlegm.
Even if working in a hotel can be irrelevant for your future, consider by the first day that everything you learn can be useful for you. So, for example, you could take note of things you can add to your CV. Many of the executives who run companies that one day could hire you are English, so you can practice how to sympathize with them.
Important: Bring your regular clothes if you live in the northern Spain, and your regular clothes plus a couple of jackets and a raincoat if you\'re from the south. In any case, you will find there everything you need.
Matter of life or death: Most important of all, the basic, fundamental thing that you mustn\'t forget is that you have to look first to the right when you cross the street.
Code of conduct
You should always wear appropriate clothes according to your job.
The anti-social behaviour, including the use of alcohol or drugs, or any other hazardous substance is not permitted and may be grounds for dismissal.
It is of utmost importance that members of a group behave sensible and sober, showing respect for the customs and beliefs of the host country.
